Judo Demonstration

PRESS RELEASE

Sneyd Judo Club has now taken delivery of its new judo mats costing over £5000. These were funded by a Sport England Lottery Grant and other fundraising events.

To celebrate the club's acquisition of this new equipment, its members will be demonstrating judo at the Air Cadets Open Day on Sunday 10 July at 2pm. This will be held at 435 (Newcastle-under- Lyme) Squadron, Air Training Corps, TA Centre, Liverpool Road, Cross Heath, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 9ED.

Visitors to the event will also see Sneyd Judoka of all ages in action, as well as watch a demonstration of the formal judo kata.

Sneyd Judo Club will also be starting an additional Tuesday evening session at a new venue, Trentham High School every week from Tuesday, 5 July.
Steve Smith the assistant coach said “One of the main lottery funding objectives is to raise the number of people participating in the sport of judo. We are very excited at the prospect of opening a second session and attracting new members to the club.
In addition to the Tuesday sessions, the club continues to meet every Friday evening at Sneyd Green Primary School and is open to primary, junior and adult age groups.

Sneyd Judo Club Awarded Lottery Funding

Sport England have awarded £3,500 towards the purchase of new judo mats to the club. This lottery funding together with money raised from events such as the sponsorsed assault course and from members donations will enable the club to go ahead with the purchase. The new mats are expected to arrive early this summer.
